Cong to form Govt with single majority: Bapna

All-round balanced dev my priority: CM

SAGALEE, Dec 22: Without referring to recent claim of Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari at Itanagar, AICC secretary Sanjay Bapna today said that  the ruling Congress would recapture power and form the government with single majority at the Centre.

Addressing a Congress rally here today attended by the state Congress’ ‘who’s who’, Bapna blew the poll bugle for the 2014 election while exhorting the massive gathering to strengthen the oldest party of the country.

He said that Congress recaptured power from BJP in Himachal Pradesh including the victory of AICC in-charge of Arunachal, Dr Dhaniram Shandil and improved its position in BJP-ruled Gujarat as an indicator of 2014 elections.

Describing Arunachal Pradesh a beautiful land inhabited by good hearted people, Bapna highlighted the speedy all-round developments the nation witnessed since its independence under the rule of Congress led by Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

Sonia is committed to the development of the poor, under privileged, ST and SC sections of the nation living in rural areas through various flagship programmes of UPA governments. This would gain momentum if the workers work wholeheartedly for the party, Bapan added.

“If you stand united and work with commitment for development of the state, particularly Sagalee that would contribute towards nation building,” Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Ninong Ering said in his address.

“Elect Nabam Tuki unopposed for accelerating the visible development of the state. Be prepared to capture power in every forthcoming election in the state,” Ering said to the thunderous applause of the gathering.

“We three MPs are committed to work for state’s greater welfare. I have urged Union Minister for Minority Affairs for a special package for our under developed state which was endorsed by the CM,” he added.

Appreciating the successful rally, Rajya Sabha member and APCC president Mukut Mithi made special mention of ongoing inter-state Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) and expressed confidence that Chief Minister Nabm Tuki would take the state to a much greater height.

“We all Congress MLAs are with the CM and hopefully he would lead the next government, Mithi in his presidential address added.

He congratulated Tuki on being chosen by International Association for Educators for World Peace (IAEWP), a voluntary organization affiliated to many UN bodies, for IAEWP Lifetime Achievement Award-2012 and Arunachal for Green State Award-2012.

Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, who is the local legislator and was elected unopposed in 2005, highlighted numerous policies his government has framed within in a short time for all-round balanced development of the state.

Taking a dig at Gadkari for blaming Nehru for the 1962 defeat, Mithi said that BJP was not even formed then. It was Nehru’s forward policy that helped demarcate all the frontier areas while facilitating the administration and development, particularly in this land-locked state, to take deep roots.

Agri-horticulture and its allied sectors are the top most priority of my government to tap the vast potential while benefiting the agrarian people of the state, the CM said spelling out the 50% subsidy for procurement of tractors, power tillers, rice huller and water pumps under CM’s Agricultural Mechanism to boost the production in the sectors.

He also highlighted the benefit of ongoing TAH and 5,300 BPL families of Papum pare of the total 40,000 beneficiaries would benefit under Rashtriya  Swastha Bima Yojan while Employment Generation Council, Skill Development Council and CM’s Livelihood School (Also planned here) aimed at improving skill of the youth to earn decent livelihood.

The chief minister announced a mini secretariat to be built here at a cost of Rs 5 crore.

Lok Sabha member Takam Sanjoy called for wholehearted support for Tuki for taking Arunachal to a new height. He said the support should be reflected by winning in all future panchayat, assembly and Lok Sabha elections to draw the attention of the central government and the party.

Rubbishing rumours of political instability, Sanjoy said the ruling Congress, party and three MPs are working coherently in fine-tune.

Such political chemistry in the past would have pushed Arunachal to greater height, he emphatically said before announcing Rs 30 lakh from his MPLAD fund for construction of a community-cum-cultural hall at Tani Hapa.

Earlier, about 300 persons joined Congress at the initiative of BCC president Taba Tate, who pleaded for giving importance to the party and its office bearers who form the base of the government.

“Trans-Arunachal Highway passing through Sagalee is an ambitious project of the GoI which would yield massive benefit to the state. It would be in the greater welfare to facilitate its speedy execution of the project with district administrations making the way,” he reasoned.

While APMC president Yari Dulom emphasized on giving priority to women at all levels, APYC president Tadar Niglar stressed on youth power having the strength to take Congress to new height, including the emphatic victory of the CM. Organizing committee chairman Taba Haniya and secretary Nabam Tadap also addressed host of ministers, parliamentary secretaries, MLAs and the rank and file of the party, thousand of party workers attending the rally.
